2 Day Pottery Workshop - Bowls

Description

Join Karin for a fun and informative hand-building workshop where you will make a unique pair of bowls. After a short demo, you will experience rolling out your clay slab, choosing a shape, playing with textures, and adding “feet”. Your bowls will then be dried and bisque fired in our kiln – ready for glazing and decorating the following Sunday! Open to all levels – beginners welcome.

Materials will be supplied for this workshop (includes clay and glazes).

Space is limited

Day 1: Sunday March 9th 1:00-3:30 pm – Hand Building

Day 2: Sunday March 16th 1:00-3:30 pm – Glazing

Bowls will be available for pick up 1 week after the glazing session.

Your Instructor

Karin Pavey

Karin was born and grew up in Toronto. She began her ceramic studies in Sweden and is a graduate of both Sheridan College and the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design where she received a BFA. She was a ceramic instructor for many years at the Gardiner Museum.  In addition, she has taught at Sheridan College, the ROM and the Toronto District School Board. She currently works in her Toronto west end studio and teaches part time. Karin is an established and respected Canadian potter whose colourful tableware has been exhibited in North America and Europe.  She has been the recipient of many awards and honours, including grants from the Ontario Arts Council, and her work has been showcased extensively in both public and private collections.  Karin travels frequently to Europe, where she continues to draw inspiration for her work.
