Join Marina this fall to explore tonal values in portrait drawing. This course focuses on capturing the interplay of light and shadow in portraiture to create form, depth and realism to your drawings.
Through a series of exercises, participants will learn to observe and render the subtle gradations of tone, manage contrast, and apply essential pencil and charcoal techniques such as shading and blending.
These classes aim to enhance your ability to create strong portraits with a focus on tonal accuracy.

Marina Nazarova
Marina Nazarova is a visual artist and illustrator based in Brazil & Toronto. She holds a BFA in Painting from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver BC. The majority of Marina’s work revolves around people and spaces; as she draws her inspirations from everyday life and found images. In her paintings she uses oils, acrylics, and watercolour. She has worked with Artbarn School on the Eglinton Junior Public School Tangram mural project. She has also worked on murals for art fairs, commercial spaces and StreetARToronto projects.
