Description

This 6-week class aims to teach the basic principles of portraiture and draw every detail of a face from a photograph. Every face is unique, with different emotions to express. This course will teach you how to capture detailed facial features and convey personality by working with line, form, light and shadows. You will learn how to simplify the complex topic of portrait drawing through step-by-step exercises. Class is limited to 8-10 students.

Objectives:

  • Introducing to the facial anatomy
  • Simplifying the portrait into basic shapes
  • understanding the major structural characteristics of the eyes, ears, nose and mouth
  • Drawing the head from different angles
  • Understanding the rules of lighting and shading to draw realistic and three-dimensional portraits
  • Drawing a realistic portrait from start to finish

Your Instructor

Leila Refahi

Leila Refahi is an experienced art teacher and researcher with a demonstrated history of working in Visual Art. She works with painting, installation, and digital media to create participatory art experiences. Her work mainly focuses on environmental issues, Climate justice, and endangered animals. Refahi has presented six solo exhibitions and participated in more than 60 national and international group exhibitions and festivals.
