This new workshop will introduce students to the basics of oil painting. Using this lovely sunset example Molly will take you through all the steps needed to help you accomplish your own sunset painting. Techniques such as light, shadow and the building of layers will be demonstrated. Then she will explore the use of textures. Molly will explain how to apply oil paint onto a canvas and blend colours. This fun workshop will foster confidence, creativity, and self expression. A photo reference will be provided.

Molly MacKay

Molly MacKay is a visual arts teacher as well as a visual artist. She lives in Toronto, Ontario and has been teaching art to both adults & children for over 14 years. Molly is originally from Scotland and graduated with a BA Honours degree in Fine Art from Grey’s School of Art & Design In Aberdeen Scotland. She enjoys painting, drawing and creating mixed media works. She works mostly in oils, acrylics as well as in watercolour. Molly is very passionate about teaching art and believes that art is for everyone. Everyone has the ability to learn how to draw , paint and create at their own pace. All we need is a nurturing & supportive environment and to take that first step in creating something that is truly ours. Molly offers both group and individual classes in all different mediums and teaches in a fun, relaxed and positive manner. Some of the art mediums that she teaches are drawing, painting, printmaking, sketching, pastel drawing and much more. She hopes you will join her on your creative journey and together learn various ways of using different art materials and many methods of expressing ourselves.
