LET’S EXPLORE WITH CHARCOAL!

Charcoal is a beautiful medium which creates lovely silvery-greys. It is a very easy approachable medium to use. We’ll use soft willow charcoal to create a beautiful portrait. A kneaded eraser will allow us to create light values, giving our portrait structure. Working this way, with dry mediums, is almost like sculpting! The finer lines and subtle details can be found with charcoal pencils. Finally, touches of pink soft pastel will create sparkles of light, making the highlights pop! Join Nora for this unique fresh approach to charcoal portraits.
