Description
Charcoal is a wonderful versatile medium that allows for many approaches. It is a fun, affordable and forgiving medium! In this class, we’ll be exploring charcoal through interesting and unique faces with the photos provided. Nora will take you step-by-step through the facial features and how to create interesting complete portraits. Demos and lots of drawing time will allow you to find your way. Using soft willow charcoal to create beautiful silvery tones and charcoal pencil to establish dark lines, your portraits will take shape. And, with the help of a kneaded eraser, lovely subtle highlights will emerge. Also, you can easily fix up mistakes! We’ll work on newsprint to start, then decide on some lovely coloured papers to explore. We’ll discuss the many charcoal materials that are readily available to you here in Toronto.
Charcoal washes off and out, but prepare to get a tad messy.
